I used to be pretty good at working with film audio but I'm having a tough time with some limited resources here. I've plugged a very old JVC dynamic mic into my laptop, and am recording through ACID, but the fuzz is dominating any sounds I'm recording. I suppose I could try to eliminate it after, but I'd like as clear a sound as I can get while I record. I'm just trying to record my songs for my own reference, so even rough demo quality would be great. Any suggestions for how things should be set to start? I also have Cubase on my computer.
I use Audacity (free program), and tweak it once I'm done. Has many options to help remove or add features.
I get a consistent electric-hiss from my mic and the program nicely removes it.
