What DJ sound card should I get?
I am using Virtual DJ 7.0 with a laptop with 1 output. I need a sound card that will be able to allow me to connect my headphones to the sound card to cue the song. It needs to be able to connect to an ampliphier using RCA cables which will be connected to speakers and it needs to be able to connect to a microphone.
So far I have found three options:
Numark Dj i/o
Behringer UCA 202
Infrasonic Amon
I need the sound card to be as cheap as possible and as reliable as possible. Thanks
Hi, Ben,
I have a similar setup to yours. I'm using a Soundblaster SB1090 X-Fi USB interface.
I connect the L/R jacks via miniplug to Male RCA cables which go into my amp. (The nice thing is that the XFI also has optical and digital ports (AC3) so I can connect to other types of amplification, though, for DJing, the digital ports add a delay, making it hard to mix.)
On the bonus side, the XFI has numerous outs, so you can use one port to feed your amp, and another to drive your headphones. It also has a line input and mic input, so you can mix additional sources (like an iPod or CD player, etc...)
An XFI runs about $60 at Amazon.com. And splitter cables run about $3 each.
