easy recorder music
What does no supported d.v.d recorders mean?
Hi
Can someone help me please, in easy terms. I have instaled Roxio onto my lap-top but when i try to copy things i.e a video or photo's it's coming up :- No Supported d.v.d recorders, or when i try to copy my music on to a disk it's coming up No supported CD recorders.
Please can some one explain what this means, and in simple terms how do i do it.

In simple terms the error message means the the Roxio software can't detect and talk to you DVD / CD writer, disk drive on your laptop.
This could be for a variery of reasons:
1) Your laptop only has a DVD / CD ROM drive which doesn't support writing to disks. - Solution upgrade your hardware.
2) Their is a hardware fault with your DVD / CD writer or it is disabled in bios, although this is quite unlikely. Try playing a pre-recorded CD in it, if that works its unlikely to be hardware.
3) The roxio software your using doesn't support your particular type of CD/DVD writer.
You didn't say where you got the roxio software from.
If it came with your laptop its unlikely that the software is the cause and you should look for potential hardware problems.
If you installed a version of Roxio that came free with another computer or DVD writer then it is quite likely that this is an OEM version and will only work with the computer / writer with which it was originally supplied.
If its an old retail version that is a few years old and your laptop is newer than the version of Roxio then it may not have the settings for your particular brand and model of DVD writer in your laptop therefore it can't talk to it.
In both the scenarios above, your only option is to buy a new retail version of Roxio or another application such as Nero or use the software that your laptop was originally shipped with.
