I need studio sounding music, but I'm confused about the amp's and mic's.?
Ok I know this is probably going to burn a hole through my pocket, but I need good quality sounding music. I'm working this summer so I'll probably have the money. Currently I'm stuck using Adobe/Cool Edit Pro (which is fine), but I just need a good quality microphone. I work with hip-hop and R & B music. My mic is a bogus 25 dollar Sony mic, real cheap. I remember my cousin's boyfriend had a computer, with a 250 dollar microphone and some huge speakers, which I think were amps, and that's where the mic was hooked to. I have no clue where to buy amps, how much they cost, and I need a solid microphone that is good for vocals and rapping. People tell me I have great material, but I'm sure it would get bigger exposure with better sound quality! Do amp's hook up to your computer? What are they for? What's the difference between a dynamic and condensed mic? Can I obtain good sound quality from using my PC? I need actual info about all of the above, not a link to musicfriend.com lol. HELP!!
There is sound and there is sound if you know what I mean. First off the Mic makes all the difference when it comes to vocals. What might work well for others might not sound good for you. One thing I've learned is one can always use the old dependable (almost indestructible) Mic made by Sure model 58. The simplest thing to do is to use Powered speakers (amps built in)alone with a non powered Mixer board and at least a 4 channel. I would go for a 8 channel. The computer can plug in to the mixer board where you can control the volume and etc. The Sure mic will cost you about 100 bucks. The speakers about 250.00 to 300.00each and mixer around 300.00. Do look at music sites and get the best deal. I know that is a lot of money and this is at the low end. Just remember though if you are serious about this the sound is what is important.
