Please help with Cable Organization?
What is the best way to organize and store cables?
I have a home recording studio with many types of cables... mostly mic cables and instrument cables... so i want an efficient and highly organized way to store them.
Some ideas include:
1. Getting a shelf and putting each type on separate shelves. But that way, the cables get tangled up with each other... and a shelf takes up lots of space generally.
2. Using nails into the wall to hang the cables. This would be okay... but i'd have to put a whole in the wall for each and every cable.
Do you know of any furniture or similar that is specifically designed to organize and store cables in a recording studio???
Thanks in advance
Yeah, I know. I have thought about this same problem. The cables are either too long or bulky. I thought about making a box with compartments, keeping the back open. The front would be closed but labeled for each compartment. You could color code each cable and have the front of the box color labeled. This way you can tie all the cables together and leave about 12" of slack to fit into the box. You could tape the cables to a leg or two when running them to keep them out of the way. They also have these wire-ways that have a flip cover on them and all the cables go in there and on to the device, etc. I guess it depends on how much effort you want to put into this project.
