Wireless Cordless Tie
Vonage problem - can't use cordless phone?
I just signed up for Vonage. I bought a cordless phone, seeing as how I'm using a wireless network, why tie myself down, right? But when I use the cordless phone with the wireless network, the wi-fi drops out completely! (I'm on a Mac, with an Airport.)
Vonage customer service said that my cordless phone was on the same frequency as the wireless (hunh?) and using a regular plug-in phone did work. But how in the world do I - as customer service suggested - change the frequency on my Airport so they don't conflict?
Any ideas? Thanks!
Wi-Fi uses the 2.4ghz set of frequencies, so if you phone uses the them as well, then they will interfere. Your solution would be to buy a 5.8ghz cordless phone, and leave your 2.4ghz unplugged.
